January 12 @ 9:00 pm$10
Starline Social Club Presents:
with MANIC & wwerewwolf
MANICS is an indie dance live act comprised of Jordan Deherrera and Chris Sanders and based in San Francisco. Their performances are a medley of indie pop vocals, live synth work, percussion and modulation; accompanied by matching lights and visuals. Since its inception in 2012, the project has developed into a dynamic performance of technology and raw emotion with their music being supported by Odessa, Poolside, Steve Aoki & others around the world.
The duo are also the master-minds behind the bay-area indie label POPGANG Records. Founded in 2013, the label features artists and producers across a wide swath of genres and sub-cultures while retaining a cohesive identity built on the punk-DIY mentality turned modern. With over 60 releases to date, POPGANG’s catalog is a diverse collection of work from the bay area & beyond.
A chance encounter during a community college music class brought singer/writer Kelsey LaRae and singer/writer/ producer Dylan Gallagher together. The two became fast friends and discovered a creative dynamic that was nothing short of electric. They immediately set out to make music that would feel both homemade and anthemic, mirroring the intimate-yet-public nature of life in the age of the internet. In that way, vverevvolf is an inevitability; as artistic media become more public, more produced, and more perfectable, vverevvolf rebels by embracing the imperfection of being alive. They are at the forefront of a returning wave of pop music in which feeling is not just a spectacle, but the art itself.
With the release of their debut EP Electric Blue in February 2018, they quickly attracted thousands of streams and secured their status as one of the Bay Area’s biggest bands to watch. The five-song collection landed them on in-store playlists around the world (H&M, Hollister, Bloomingdales), TV soundtracks (MTV, the CW, Viceland), an ad campaign for Nordstrom, and a number of top tier publications – including Nylon, where their debut single “Cruel Games” premiered. They have garnered a strong following performing at venues such as the Independent, the Great American Music Hall, Bottom of The Hill and the Rickshaw Stop, supporting artists such as Yumi Zouma and Saro, and joining the bill for music festivals such as NoisePop and SheFest.
