Tone Ranger w/ Sun Kin & Golden Gram

April 10 @ 8:00 pm

Starline Social Club Presents:

Tone Ranger w/ Sun Kim & Golden Gram

8PM Doors

TONE RANGER (Deep House / Adobe House)

Tone Ranger (AKA Alex Simon) returns to the Bay for an evening of warm desert dance music. Simon makes dance music that embodies the magnetic and supernatural beauty of the American Southwest. Blending deep house rhythms with ethereal instrumentation (lap steel, harmonica, whistling, voice), he has earned a reputation as one of the region’s most original and sought-after live electronic acts.

Performances have often been described as heart-opening, seamlessly moving from ecstatic peaks to grounding sonic valleys. In August, he released his debut EP with Jumpsuit Records, and has since opened for international acts like Quantic, Random Rab and Dirtwire. His new EP, On the Horizon, is available on all streaming platforms!

SUN KIN (Post Pop / Disco Jazz)

Sun Kin’s music is about communicating beyond words. Kabir Kumar, an Indian transplant who had lived in four countries by the time he was 10 years old, has always used pop music to adapt to new environments and connect to the history of a place and people. Kabir’s compositions always feature some of his favorite local musicians, often playing a variety of instruments that don’t hew to rock or pop norms.

Taking influence from 20th-century and contemporary pop composers like R.D. Burman, Ryuichi Sakomoto, and Dev Hynes, the grooves in his songs are deep and the melodies dewy, hanging in your mind like a conversation with an old friend.

GOLDEN GRAM (pastoral electronics)

golden gram (AKA Graham LeBron) is an Oakland based composer/producer/DJ. His selections evoke feelings of healing and peace while still holding down the groove.
As a multi-instrumentalist, he has toured the world playing in Rogue Wave, Port O’Brien, and Fruit Bats. He currently plays drums and sings in Outer Embassy and DJs regularly throughout the Bay Area.
