You’re Going to Die offers our first ever fully curated entertainment experience outside of San Francisco, proudly presenting great artists as they deserve to be presented: in a performance space deep & wide enough to hold all their brilliant articulations of the grittiest, darkest & most complex healing journeys we get to navigate as humans, in a room full of mortals who will collectively dive in with them, offering an opportunity to expand beyond ourselves into the wisdom of community, elevated in our togetherness with the living & the dead.
And we might dance a little, too.
YG2D Presents: Josiah Johnson
Josiah is best known for being a founding member of The Head and the Heart. He took a break from that work a few years ago to learn how to live more wholly integrated and to work with and through problems with addictions. His expanding solo creations feel good in intimate spaces. Deep and soulful ballads that paint the imagination with rich and emotional landscapes of love, loss and transformation. Josiah’s solo performances highlight a stripped down, emotive, lyrics-and-voice-first kind of song craft, inimitable in its sincerity and beauty. – www.josiahjohnson.com
YG2D Presents: Zena Carlota
Oakland-based Zena Carlota wears many hats. As a composer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, visual and theater artist, Carlota uses her dynamic talents to navigate “the space between dreams, ancestry and memory in sound and imagery.” She is known for crafting genre-defying odes to what is lost, and reclaiming histories carried by Carlota’s distinctive soothing voice and the atmospheric sound of the Kora, a 21-string West African bridge harp she learned over ten years of study. – www.zenacarlota.com

YG2D Presents: Kim Lembo
When asked to sum up her last 15 years, Lembo says this: “The purpose of my semi-retirement from music was to discover who I am off the stage. I had spent most of my life prior either on the stage or, trying to get on it. The irony is, the work I was doing often times brought me on stage to talk with hundreds or even, thousands of people. I guess it is just who I am. That said, I’m much more interested in evolving and growing as a musician than trying to be a rock star. I’m fascinated by how music heals, moves, motivates and brings us together in community. It is a spiritual quest now, the wannabe rock star days behind me. I wasn’t very good at it anyway. I’m much better at being part of the whole of the experience as opposed to being the focus.” – www.kimlembomusic.com
